What hobbies do you have?

Hey,

I’m just wondering what hobbies people have?

Since tutoring full time at home, I find I could do with some ideas for getting out of the house and socialising more! It can be easy to get stuck in a frustrating rut when you’re at the screen so much.

My favourite is countryside walks (more for mental and physical health than social). I also am trying to spend more time training my nightmare dog (not sure if that counts as a hobby :stuck_out_tongue: ). I am consciously trying to spend more time reading, as that slipped away when I started teaching.
I could definitely do with more social hobby ideas though. Bonus if they will get me moving more too :stuck_out_tongue: xx

Hi Heather,
Mainly it’s golf and country walks ( not at the same time though, too many injuries : ) ). Fitness at the gym and badminton is also good at a local leisure centre. Gardening is always good for the soul and the soil. Cheers Nige

I’d love to get into gardening, but I struggle to keep a cactus alive. I may have to do some research!

I totally understand, during lockdown I became so busy tutoring i didn’t do my hobbies. I love walking my dog as well and I love sewing - thankfully I took lessons before lockdown, but like you I have needed to find something more social, so I started going to visit elderly people in our villlage to be a contact and helpthem with things like internet shopping and just reading a book together.

For myself I love to read books. I stay active with gym. I also like doing puzzles, knitting and learning to play the keyboard. Oh and adult colouring.

Similar to you (apart from the knitting… got the hand-eye coordination of a heavy-handed rhino): trying to push myself at the gym, love puzzles myself and really love my reading. Also got back into playing chess again recently too.

If anyone wants to reply or pm me with author suggestions I would love to add to my library! Particular any authors who write thrillers

haha I get that! I would like to get back into chess too. As for author suggestions, my favourite is Stephen King- he’s definitely done some thrillers.

I usually manage to do one free Puzzle Rush a day on chess.com :-))

I’m a drummer (a band called Bangford) but haven’t been out playing much the last couple of years. I’ve had flying lessons in the past (42 hours) and I’m hoping to get up in the air again this summer. I manage to do one chess Puzzle Rush a day. My chess is slowly improving, but it’s not good…

I’ve not read much of King’s work even though he’s the godfather seeing as all the authors I do read include his review within their novel! I’ve always had a problem with reading mainstream authors fearing that I’m “last there” so to speak but I shall seek out some of his books this year !

Nice one! I get quite lazy with puzzles, idly thinking I’ve got the solution without properly checking all possibilities. Could definitely do better with those !

That makes sense! Haha yes he does appear in a lot of other authors’ books, doesn’t he? I’m kind of the opposite; wary of trying authors/books I haven’t heard of before.
